Brine Making Workshop & Facility Tour: This year’s pre-conference event was held at the City of Columbus Complex and featured a facility tour and sessions on brine making and equipment cleaning.

Welcome Reception: The Welcome Reception is always a great way to kick off the Symposium, and is the perfect time to reconnect with friends and colleagues and have some fun.

Two Keynote Speakers: John DiJulius spoke on Thursday for the opening Keynote “What’s the Secret? To Providing a World-Class Customer Experience.” On Friday, Marc Wayshak presented “Championship Selling the New Economy.”

Educational Sessions: 21 sessions covered topic areas such as sales & marketing, management & leadership, operations & equipment, and CEO to CEO. New session topics this year included LEED for snow removal, public/private partnerships, self-defense, and more.

Snow & Ice Trade Show: The trade show will had all the usual favorites, including more than 100 exhibitors sharing the latest products and service information for the industry. New this year, the trade show floor had a Best Practices Pavilion, where attendees could learn more about SIMA’s Best Practices Checklist at a number of interactive stations.

Snack & Chat Roundtables: Attendees discussed some of the most important and relevant industry topics with other snow & ice management professionals during the popular Snack & Chats.

Closing Event: This year’s closing event took us to the Columbus Center of Science and Industry (COSI), where attendees will enjoyed an evening exploring the museum, had a private cocktail hour in the Adventure exhibit, and ate dinner outside on the Plaza Deck, overlooking the Scioto River and the lights of downtown Columbus.
