Welcome! SIMA is excited to work with you as a speaker for the 19th Annual Snow & Ice Symposium! This web page should provide most of the information you will need to prepare for your session and meet important deadlines.

Preparing for a presentation takes considerable time and planning, so we want to provide the resources you will need to create a successful educational session for conference attendees. During the next couple months we will update this site with new and important information.

Speaker Deadlines

To assist SIMA in preparing for and promoting your session, it is important that all deadlines are met. Your biography, session description, and AV should be complete and accurate by the deadlines below. View your current session title and description and your bio to determine if it should be updated. 

April 15
Speaker bio updates due


May 1
Changes to session description due
Final AV adjustments due


May 16 
Session rooms confirmed and emailed


May 27
Early bird deadline for registration


May 30
PowerPoint or Session Outline due


May 31
SIMA's hotel block closes. Based on availability, so could be gone earlier.


June 22-24
Show time! 19th Annual Symposium in Providence, RI.

If you want to make revisions to your existing speaker bio or have not yet sent one to SIMA, please submit it here or email it to Kaitlyn@sima.org


Tips for writing your biography:

  • Keep your speaker bio brief—no more than 75 to 100 words.
  • Include your current position and a brief mention of work history and experience that is relevant to your speaking topic and audience.
  • Include academic qualifications, awards, and a reference to published work, but only if applicable to the material you are presenting.
