The Board of Directors is comprised of general and associate members who are snow and ice industry professionals. The Board is responsible for setting SIMA's strategic direction.

Justin Gamester, CSP Chair
Justin Gamester, CSP, is the Vice President of Piscataqua Landscaping & Tree Service., a full service landscaping, tree and snow & ice management company servicing Maine and New Hampshire. He received the SIMA Certified Snow Professional (CSP), a professional designation earned by obtaining a minimum number of years in the industry and passing a comprehensive exam, in 2004. Piscataqua Landscaping & Tree Service. has been a SIMA member since 1999. With SIMA, he has served as Chair of the Membership Committee, been a member of the Education Committee, and has served as a SIMA Buddy & mentor. He has been a speaker at several SIMA educational programs, including the Snow & Ice Symposium. Justin earned his B.S. in business administration from the University of New Hampshire.
Doug Knott, CSP Vice Chair
Doug Knott, CSP, is the owner of Knott's Land Care, LLC in Amherst, NH. He is a past Chair of SIMA's membership committee and a member of the certification committee. Doug was awarded SIMA's Volunteer of the Year Award in 2011. He has a B.A. from Magdalen College and MBA from the University of New Haven.
Bob Smart, CSP Immediate Past Chair
Bob Smart, CSP, is president and owner of Mr. Yard Inc., a full service landscape supply company serving both retail and contractor customers, and Smart Scapes Landscaping, a full service landscape management company with a commercial snow division serving the Cleveland and Northeastern Ohio area.
While active with SIMA, Bob has received the following awards: SIMA Excellence in Business (2004), SIMA Top Recruiter (2004 & 2005) and SIMA Volunteer of the Year (2005).
Carl Bolm, CSP, owns and operates 4 companies in the St. Louis Metro Area. BSR Services is a “snow-only” business that focuses on snow-specific commercial property service. As an industry leader, the company has more than 500 team members and uses state-of-the-art equipment, methods and expertise. Carl oversees all strategic processes involved with operating the proactive risk management business. BSR Services received the "Excellence in Business" award from SIMA in 2007 and 2011, and Carl was recently awarded the title of CEO of the Year 2014 by Snow Business magazine. He has been an active member and volunteer with SIMA for many years.
Rick Huffman, CSP Standard Member Representative
Rick Huffman, CSP, is the President of HLM Property Management in Rome, OH and is the past chair of SIMA's Education Advisory Board. Rick attended Ohio State University for sports turf management and earned his Certified Snow Professional designation in 2005. Rick is an active outdoorsman and dedicated community volunteer.
Paul Vanderzon, ASM Supplier Member Representative
Paul Vanderzon is a sales representative for Metal Pless Inc and co-owner of Deneigement Vanderzon, he has 34 years of experience in the snow industry. He is an active member of SIMA sitting on the Outreach Advisory Committee, is a SIMA Advisor, and Ambassador. In 2010 Paul Vanderzon was honoured with the SIMA Volunteer of the year award and through his other company, Entreneige, organized the largest snow only tradeshow in Canada.
Laura Ingram, CSP Director
Laura Ingram, CSP, is the Director of Operations at Ingram Enterprises, Inc. The company is one of the oldest, largest and most experienced professional snow removal contractors in the Chicagoland area. Laura worked as a high school math teacher before deciding to join her father's company, which she will one day take over. She has volunteered on SIMA's Outreach Committee since 2012, where she now serves as Chair. Laura is also the current secretary of her local IFMA chapter and has been on their Programming Committee since 2011. She was also on BOMA's Associate Committee in 2012. Laura was also voted "Associate Member of the Year" by her local IFMA chapter in 2012 and 2013.
Deb Mattson, CSP Director
Deb Mattson is a Certified Snow Professional and highly experienced risk manager in snow and ice. She has an educational background in business management, with a certificate in insurance management. Before, moving into the Snow industry, she was Director of Operations for a disaster recovery firm for 5 years working in claims processing and dealing specifically with insurance claims. She then spent 9 years as an operations Manager for a Mystic Snow removal company.
Deb currently serves as the Director of Operations at Schmidt Lawn Care based in Southington, CT.
Wayne Michalak, CSP Director
Wayne Michalak, CSP, is the President/Owner of The Greener Side, Inc., in Inkster, MI. Wayne has been working in the green and snow industry since 1988 and founded The Greener Side, Inc. in 1993. He has volunteered his time to be a Deacon at his church, is a member of the Michigan Green Industry Association and has been a speaker at SIMA educational events.
Kent Peddie, CSP Director
Kent Peddie, CSP, owns and operates Precision Snow Removal in Ottawa, Ontario. He was looking for a summer job while at university and decided to start his own hardscaping company in 1992. Pressed by an employee looking for year-round work, he began snow plowing a few years later. Precision now specializes in challenging residential, condominium and small commercial properties and utilizes a fleet of 20 skid-steer loaders as well as tractors, plow trucks and dump trucks.
Kent has served on SIMA's Outreach Committee and has also volunteered many hours assisting onsite for events throughout past Symposiums. Precision was a recipient of the Safety Award in 2012, 2013 and 2014. Kent also served as a board member for Landscape Ontario - Ottawa Chapter and the Ottawa Snow Contractors Association.
Mark Schlutt, CSP Director
Mark Schlutt, CSP, is the CEO of M.A.A.C. Property Services in Niles, MI. Mark founded the company in 1998 and is a seasoned professional with over 25 years of experience in commercial and residential grounds maintenance. He is actively involved in the business, overseeing strategic planning, financial performance, customer satisfaction, and operations.
In addition to being a Certified Snow Professional (CSP), he is a Certified Pesticide Applicator, and holds a Commercial Driver’s License in Category A and B.
Maggie Szumilas, CSP Director
Maggie Szumilas, CSP, owns and operates Northwest Snow Removal, Inc., based in the Chicagoland Area. She was recently featured in Snow Business Magazine’s January issue after winning GoPlow.com’s Greatest Story Never Told Video Contest, in which the company recalled their experience starting their own snow removal company, which has now grown to service over 200 commercial properties in Northern Illinois. Maggie has been selling snow for over 10 years and enjoys writing, running, spending time with her young son, and sharing her knowledge with fellow SIMA members.
Mark Adamson Director
Mark Adamson has been involved in the Green Industry for 30 years. As a manager for John Deere Company responsible for dealer sales networks and distribution for over two decades, he has developed effective skills in communications and relationship selling. Mark obtained his MBA from Duke University with an emphasis in marketing. For the last 8 years Mark has been the Vice President of Sales and Marketing of Douglas Dynamics, leaders in snow and ice control and manufacturers of Blizzard, Fisher, and Western brands.
